Innovative Affinity Binder Technologies

Request Number N883565
Need details

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking partners and opportunities to further develop and commercialize technologies for affinity binders. This includes enhancements to current antibody technologies to increase antibody sensitivity and/or specificity, as well as alternatives to traditional antibody platforms.

Antibodies and affinity binders are key molecules used in the detection and quantitation of proteins in a wide variety of applications including Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry, flow cytometry, and ELISA. Despite the availability of many excellent antibodies for proteins used in these applications, better tools and reagents are always needed to push the boundaries of specificity, reproducibility, and sensitivity.

Thermo Fisher Scientific is dedicated to providing our customers with the broadest, best reagents and technologies that meet their needs.

Key Success Criteria
  • Be reproducible and scalable
  • Be cost effective at small quantities (equal to or less than cost of similar antibodies)
  • Able to develop for a large range of molecules
  • Able to develop for small molecules as low as 400 daltons in size
  • Be free and clear of competing intellectual properties
  • Preferably be patentable
  • Proof-of-concept already established by benchmarking against competing technologies

Possible Approaches
  • Nonprotein molecules (i.e. aptamers)
  • New protein scaffolds
  • Antibody-like molecules
  • Affinity maturation technologies
  • New expression platforms
  • In vitro monoclonal development
  • Phage display with greater diversity and less expense to develop
  • Peptidomimetics
