THE CHALLENGE PROCESS

The Space Robotics Challenge has three progressive levels: 

LEVEL 1 - Open Registration

August 16 - October 7, 2016

Interested competitors should complete and submit the online Competitor Registration Form to show intent to compete.  Upon review of the completed form, the Challenge Administrator will issue each team a Competitor Packet which will include the following forms:

  • The Official Rules and Instructions
  • Team Agreement 
  • Aknowledgement Form 

Once these forms are completed and submitted, Teams will be invitied into Level 2.

LEVEL 2 - Qualifying Round

October 24, 2016 - January 21, 2017

Registered Teams must qualify for the SRC by demonstrating a simple technological advancement.  Teams will be scored on their demonstration performance, and up to twenty (20) teams will be awarded a cash prize, and will advance to the Level 3.

 

LEVEL 3 - Virtual Competition

Open Practice (February 2017 - June 2017) - Teams will be able to practice using updated releases of the Challenge simulation world.  The practice simulations will not be identical to the final competition arena, but will have similar components.

Live Competition (June 13-16, 2017) - Teams will compete in software simulation to direct R5 to perform tasks in a virtual planetary setting on Mars.
