Siemens Healthcare GmbH is seeking an Electron Emission Technology for cathodes in x-ray tubes, allowing us to extract more than 4.5 A/cm² for at least a 5s time period.
Electron Emission Technology for cathodes in x-ray tubes is a core enabler for high image quality in diagnostic x-ray imaging. With conventional technology, (i.e. tungsten filaments or flat emitters) and upcoming new technologies (i.e. Cabo-Nano Tube/ field emission), the design of cathodes is limited by the emission current density of approximately 3 A/cm².
The advancements in medical imaging equipment are constantly asking for an increase in power – both for very short and longer periods of time. Therefore we are seeking methods or technologies which would allow us to extract substantially more than 3 A/cm² for at least a 5s time period.
