Siemens Healthineers is looking for a cost optimized solution to measure the dynamic angle position of a CT gantry. The position information is used for image reconstruction and motion control.
State-of-the-art CT gantrieshave a rotating ring that moves the measurement system around the patient. It is a continuous movement with rotation speeds up to 320 U/min during which an x-ray based scan of the patient is performed.
The current state-of-the-art is having markers on the Gantry, either directly within the Gantry structure or on a carrier structure that is sampled by optical or inductive sensors.
We are seeking partners that can provide a solution meeting the following criteria · Fit to CT Gantry geometry with the inner (open) diameter of the ring is around 900mm; the outer diameter is around 1800mm
· Measure angle with a maximum absolute Deviation ±0.01 degree · Solution can scale to deliver orders of 1000 p.a.
Approaches that would drastically simplify the sensor are of special interest. Approaches that can be used to control a direct drive of the ring would be of additional interest.
