Mondelēz International is seeking ingredients and technologies that allow us to deliver the same great taste from our existing products but with lower levels of sodium and saturated fat. 


At Mondelēz International, the growth of our business is inextricably linked to the health and well-being of the people who enjoy our products and the communities in which we interact. Our Call for Well-being is a call-to-action for ourselves, our suppliers and our partners to work together to develop new approaches that have a positive impact.


We’ve set standards and goals to improve the nutrition profile of our products globally, allowing consumers to make more mindful snack choices. We plan to reduce sodium and saturated fat by an average of 10 percent across our global portfolio by 2020 (from a 2012 baseline). Key Success Criteria

The proposed technology should:

  • Lower the levels of sodium or saturated fat in food
  • Have no impact on product flavor, texture or appearance, regardless of taste sensitivity
  • Be food safe and allergen free
  • Ideally be non-GMO, Kosher, and Gluten-free


Possible Approaches

Possible approaches include, but are not limited to:

  • Like for like replacement ingredients with improved nutritional profiles
  • Taste enhancing ingredients or processing methods that allow us to less salt or saturated fat without compromising on the eating experience
  • Taste modulators that can mask the undesirable taste notes often associated with existing replacers
