Description

IncWell's partner seeks technologies to provide non-destructive evaluation of self-pierce rivet joints.

 

Background

In modern automotive assemblies, materials are joined in a variety of ways. Multi-material Body in White (BIW) structures, along with various cold joing technologies, such as Flow Drill Screw (FDS), clinching and self-pierce rivet, can be difficult to inspect for secure bonding using current evaluation methods.

 

IncWell's partner requires the ability to inspect and evaluate joints produced by self-pierce riveting in BIW structures.

 

Key Success Criteria

The successful technology will:

  • provide sufficient speed for industrial usage
  • accurately assess the strength of the bond
Possible Approaches

While inline applications have the highest potential for implementation, offline evaluation is still of interest.

 

IncWell's partner prefers technologies with a functional prototype.
