IncWell's partner seeks to make contact with companies, researchers and inventors who are developing the next iteration of e-motor technology.



A crucial component to the successful implementation of electric and hybrid gas/electric vehicles is a high power density e-motor. As in most automotive applications, weight is a primary concern. For the purposes of this request, power density is defined as power/mass (kW/kg).


IncWell's partner desires technology that can either:

  • reduce the overall weight of the e-motor without impacting the power OR
  • increase the overall power without a concurrent increase in weight


Key Success Criteria

All successful technologies will be capable of the following performance:

  • Operational temperature range: -40°C to 150°C
  • Peak power density (20 seconds) at 90°C ambient temperature (48V > 5kW/kg, HV > 10kW/kg)
  • Continuous power density (20 seconds) at 90°C ambient temperature (48V > 1kW/kg, HV > 2kW/kg)


Please note: the total mass of the e-motor (housing, stator & rotor) without the inverter must be used for the calculation of power density.

Potential approaches include but are not limited to:

  • novel e-motor technologies
  • innovative designs
  • new lightweight materials
  • advanced cooling technologies

When responding to this request, please be sure to provide a non-confidential description of the technology you propose along with information regarding your alignment with the Key Success Criteria as well as your desired business relationship with IncWell's partner.


The best received proposals will include information addressing the following performance criteria:

  • total mass of the e-motor (housing, stator & rotor) without inverter
  • continuous power density (kW/m3 and kW/kg)
  • peak power density (kW/m3 and kW/kg) for 20 seconds
  • production plan
