We are looking for sensor technology to discriminate or classify objects of different height (vertical sensitivity) being detected by short range sensors (other than cameras). For example, how to correctly detect a small child, tree branch, bicycle, ball, garage door, curb, etc.



Traditional ultrasonic and some other sensors (e.g. radar) can only measure distance to objects that are in a direct line of sight from the sensor. They have to set for a specific height range.


IncWell's partner seeks sensor technology capable of operating over a wide range heights.


Key Success Criteria
  • Be able to detect objects at different heights above the ground
  • Be aware of objects
    • at curb height (<30cm)
    • and higher level objects (30cm – 2m)
  • Distance range: <10m
  • Minimum TRL 2
  • cost effective - target price: $1 -$5 per sensor
