We are looking for technologies that can effectively prevent/clean contaminants from the camera lens surface.



Contaminants like dirt, rain droplets, snow, ice and salt can stick to and accumulate on lens surface of the cameras mounted outside of vehicles, causing blockage or smearing of the image, resulting in potential safety hazards during vehicle operation.  


With the advent of additional camera functionality and "smart cameras", the need for self-cleaning camera lenses become increasingly critical since lens contamination could negatively affect detection algorithms and cause safety issues.


IncWell's partner seeks technology to self-clean the camera lens from a variety of potential contaminants.


Key Success Criteria

The succesful technology should be effective in keeping lens clean and meet automotive environmental and durability requirements.

IncWell's partner is interested in a variety of technologies or approaches. The successful technology could be either: 

  • Passive
    • novel lens coatings:
      • hydrophobic
      • hydrophilic
      • oleophobic
      • omniphobic
  • Active
    • ultrasonic
    • airflow
    • other active systems


Approaches not of interest
Traditional wiper and spray technologies are of less interest due to cost, complexity and large demand for cleaning solutions.
