Tekle Technical Services (TTS) is  pursuing new investment opportunities to help  grow their manufacturing capabilities.  To pursue these opportunities, TTS is seeking financial investors with an investment strategy that is compatible with TTS’s focus on the development of sustainably sourced building materials.

Tekle Technical Services (TTS) was awarded a contribution of $4.5M Canadian Dollars in a national competition under the Investments in Forest Industry Transformation program to assist in the  installation of Canada’s first engineered fiber mat (EFM) commercial plant  that is successfully manufacturing interior trim and luggage racks for cars, and biodegradable erosion control mats.

Following its initial success, TTS is now focused on commercializing a new line of EFM-derived products for the building industry, including structural materials for the construction of lightweight and sustainable disaster relief homes.

EFM is a natural product made from sustainable and renewable materials

TTS has developed a process to make air-laid needle punched mats using a unique process that combines wood residues with a small amount of plant fiber residue to produce a variety of products for the growing natural fiber market.  The process not only maximizes the use of waste material from the Forestry Industry but also can use fibers from a variety of plants including grasses and plants that grow in areas that are not suitable for growing food crops.  Thus, EFM can be used in developed and developing countries.

EFM is an incredibly versatile material that can be molded into almost any 3D shape.  For example, it can be used as a sustainably sourced replacement for fiberglass wherever strong and lightweight materials are required.
