Lucazade Ribena Suntory is seeking alternative materials, technologies, processes to eliminate, reduce or replace printed low density polyethylene shrink wrap ways to improve the sustainability and recycling of secondary packaging (case outers).


Currently Lucazade Ribena Suntory (LRS) wraps individual PET bottles in low density Polyethylene to create multipacks of 6 or 8 bottles. These cases are then sold into retailers or direct to consumers.  


LRS is looking for ways to eliminate, reduce, or improve the sustainability and/or reduce the environmental impact of the plastic used in shrink case outers (secondary packaging) including:

  • Printed shrink used to case consumer facing multipacks
  • Printed shrink which packs individual bottles into cases of product for retailers

We are seeking alternative materials, technologies, or processes for this plastic shrink wrap that will be more recyclable and / or lessen the environmental impact.

Key success Criteria

Alternative Materials, Technologies, Processes which:

  • Eliminate or reduce the need for plastic case shrink
  • Reduce the amount of material needed
  • Improve the recycling, sustainability or reduce the environmental impact of these materials
Possible Approaches

Lucazade Ribena Suntory are open to:

  • All possible approaches that meet the success criteria
  • Early stage ideas and solutions that are more mature
