Communication Service with Redundant Multiple Mobile Networks
RFP Description

NineSigma, representing a major carrier with sales of over hundreds of billion yen, seeks a partner who has already developed products/services of redundant configuration technology using multiple mobile networks or who can quickly develop customized products/services, to provide stable communication services.

The Client aims for providing communication services for businesses via eSIM-equipped mobile routers or USB dongles in Japan.

Key Success Criteria
  • Mobile communication networks having redundant configuration
    • Network redundancy in data communications of two or three major Japanese domestic telecommunications carriers (Docomo, Au, and Softbank)
    • It is desirable to be able to automatically switch to a more stable communication network by detecting a deterioration or interruption of communication environment
  • It is more desirable if there is a record of service provision with devices such as mobile routers or USB dongles
Possible Approaches

The Client anticipates line redundancy techniques for mobile communication networks using eSIM technology as the main solution, but other approaches will be welcomed.

Approaches not of Interest

The following technologies are not of interest:

  • Proposal based only on hardware such as eSIM module and mobile router
Items to be Submitted

Background

Engaging in a business centered on providing communication services, the Client predicts greater needs for more stable communication service than today in the future and is hence considering business plans. Examples of options include the provision of stable communication services having redundant configuration using the eSIM standard which has been increasingly employed.

This technology is now in the process of spreading in Japan, however, and any promising partner is not found yet. Therefore, the Client eager to find business partners globally and build partnerships with promising organizations, including overseas companies in order to provide the stable communication services in Japan as soon as possible.

 

Notes on Response

Proposal shall have clear points and should not include confidential information. Supplemental files may be submitted in addition to the proposal.

 

Response evaluation

The client will evaluate all responses with the following criteria.

  • Overall scientific and technical merit
  • Approach to proof of concept or performance
  • Economic potential of concept
  • Realism of the proposed plan (action items, timeline, roles, deliverables, cost estimation)
  • Potential for proprietary position
  • Respondents’ capability and related experiences

 

Anticipated Project Process

After the submission due date, the client will review all submitted proposals. NineSigma will send the review results to each proposer 6-8 weeks after the due date. The client possibly asks clarifying questions before selecting the most suitable candidates for collaboration. The client will select best candidates through evaluations. During the selection process, the client may execute NDA with selected respondents, seek further information disclosure, and discuss specific development targets or potential opportunities.

The client will execute necessary agreements with the selected respondents and move to the advanced development phase. Specifics of any collaboration will be determined through consultation with the concerned parties.
