Lucozade Ribena Suntory (LRS) is seeking technologies to quantify bubbles and their size distribution in sugar-sweetened drinks containing at least 2% sugar. These lab-based techniques will enable LRS to determine which approaches to improving carbonation are the most effective.

Background

As a business, we are continually striving to enhance the experience associated with consuming our beverages and their overall quality.

 

Carbonation plays an important role within our portfolio and plays a key role in the enjoyment of a drink. We are continually working to improve carbon dioxide retention throughout the shelf-life of the product. We need to be able to measure the number and size of the bubbles in soft drinks to evaluate different approaches to improving carbon dioxide retention. We are seeking new lab-based techniques to quantify bubbles and their size distribution that have the potential to be used in product testing.

Key success Criteria

Approaches that have:

  • Evidence that the technology can quantify bubbles and their size distribution. This could be a basic technology that has been tested in a lab environment or a more mature analytical technique.
  • Will work in sugar-sweetened drinks containing at least 2% sugar
  • Has the potential to be used in routine product testing in approximately 3 years or less
Possible Approaches

Lucozade Ribena Suntory is open to early-stage ideas and approaches that are more mature.
