Siemens Building Technologies is seeking a wristband solution for people tracking in a healthcare environment (for example worn by babies to prevent abductions, tracking of elderly patients or tracking hospital staff).  A non-proprietary solution that can be integrated into the Siemens indoor network is preferred.


Depending on the use cases the wristbands could be worn by babies to prevent abductions, tracking of elderly patients or even hospital staff. 

Key success Criteria
  • Different use cases involving both babies and adults
  • Reusable Beacon/wristband
  • Soft and comfortable wristband
  • Hypoallergenic wristband
  • Alert when cutting/removing the band
  • Professional design
  • Button to trigger alerts (configurable via firmware)
  • Battery lifetime of >1 year (500msec, -20dBm)
  • LED status indicator (configurable via firmware, could be battery status)
  • CE, FCC, IC, UL compliant
  • IP67 proof
  • Light (max. 20gr)
  • Max. dimensions: diameter: 1,5cm; thickness: 0,8cm
  • iBeacon or Eddystone protocol
  • Open protocol
Possible Approaches

We are looking for innovative approaches/ideas/final products for wristbands that should be offered as stand-alone, but with the possibility to communicate with the protocols mentioned in the Key Success Criteria.

Approaches not of Interest

Proprietary solutions are not of interest since we would like to be able to integrate the wristbands into the Siemens indoor network.
