Stora Enso, a leading manufacturer of renewable products, is seeking approaches that enable the regeneration of periodatefromiodate, consumed in one of their production processes.
Currently, Stora Enso has a manufacturing process in place to produce one of their renewable materials. This process consumes large amounts of periodate, a very costly oxidizing agent. The entire reaction process is taking place in an aqueous solution and may contain, next to start, end and side products, other contaminants such as ions (calcium, magnesium, etc). In order to further scale and make the manufacturing process more economicallyviable, the recovery of periodate from iodate needs to be improved. Hence, Stora Enso are seeking approaches that allow the efficientregeneration of periodate from iodate in aqueous reagents. Further, Stora Enso is open for collaborations with experts in the field to develop and test proposed concepts. Stora Enso are keen to work with the selected solution providers to test, develop and prototype the methods.

Able to regenerate Periodate from Iodate
Can be done in an aqueous environment
Resistant to temperatures lower than 60°C
After development, the regeneration procedure should:
Result in high re-oxidation yields
Avoid side reaction and side product formation
Alternative oxidation methods
All other procedures that are not listed but meet the requirements
