New Applications of Oxygen Stable Isotope (¹⁸O)
RFP Description

NineSigma, representing TAIYO NIPPON SANSO Corporation (https://www.tn-sanso.co.jp/en/index.html ) of the Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Group, seeks a joint research/development partner in order to use their proprietary oxygen stable isotope (¹⁸O) for new applications.

This isotope is currently supplied as an ingredient of PET diagnostic agents. The client invites a wide variety of proposals for new applications from various industries to explore potential technological applications.

 

Oxygen Stable Isotope Supplied by Taiyo Nippon Sanso

TAIYO NIPPON SANSO is the world’s largest oxygen isotope manufacturer that supplies oxygen stable isotopes as an ingredient of diagnostics for PET scan, which is a mainstream technique for cancer diagnosis worldwide.

Having established a proprietary technology to separate an oxygen stable isotope (¹⁸O), the client has the strength to provide high-quality stable isotope at high concentration.

Anticipated Partner and Applications

The client anticipates collaboration with an organization that meets one of the following criteria:

  • Academia or corporation that has an idea on a new application other than cancer diagnosis
  • Corporations wishing to introduce the oxygen stable isotope to their business

 

Anticipated applications include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Development of diagnostic agents
  • Development of medicines
  • Development of materials (e.g. material used in fuel cells)
  • Environmental assessment (e.g. water-quality assessment, geological assessment)
