A thin, formable, and tunable light source that can be formed under a decorative surface material to illuminate the printed graphic image on the decorative surface
As a supplier of automotive interior components, we would like to provide a platform for the use of lighting to communicate with the driver. Color changing lit surfaces could also be a novel decorative approach for automotive interiors.
Flexible thin OLEDs are currently produced by LG and will be mass produced by Konica in Q1 2015. Several automotive OEMs are working on the application of flexible OLEDs in applications such as tail lights.
What are we looking for?
A thin, formable, state of the art, light technology that allows programming desired colors and light intensities to illuminate or highlight printed graphics on the decorated surface
Key success Criteria
Formable, withstanding processing temperatures of 200°C
Uses a controller to change the color and light intensity
Performs in a temperature range of -40°C to 90°C
Has a life of 50,000+ hours
Cost commensurate with automotive interiors
Available in commercial quantity
Possible approaches may include but are not limited OLED, LED, LEC, and quantum dots.
