NineSigma, representing a global pharmaceutical company invites proposals for the best-in-class cost effective thermal protection to transport pharmaceuticals products at the right temperatures and control it

Background

Pharmaceutical products often require stable temperatures during shipping and transport. This is accomplished utilizing thermos pallets and thermos covers, which provide a large space surrounding the products and reduce spoilage due to temperature variation. However, these coverings have limitations in their usage (including loss of pallet load e.g. for thermos pallet) and the materials they are manufactured from are non-recyclable.

 

Ninesigmas client is eager to look for new coverings or insulating materials that can be quickly assembled and provide the technical requirements as detailed below. The ideal solution would be applicable across all ranges 

 

1. Version 1: 2-8°C

Proposed solutions, should be capable to protect products against temperature excursions based on above profiles.

 

An example of an “open” insulated panel box is shown below related to 2-8°C product supply

 

The orientation of the packages in a shipper box is shown in the following table.

Additionally, the proposed solution must cover the entire pallet and/ or provide stable temperature variation across all of the assembled product boxes. i.e. nonpowered air movement

 

The client is open to all insulating technologies and particular those with developed commercial products are encourage to submit their proposals.

 

Key Success Criteria

The successful technology / proposal may involve some of the following

  • Technical specifications
    • Quick to assemble
    • Recyclable materials
    • Ideally operate across 2-25°C
  • Cost Analysis: Indication of potential costs for insulating of shipper boxes.

 

Possible Approaches

Possible approaches might include, but are not limited to:

  • Thermo pallet
  • Thermo covers
  • Vacuum insulated panels
  • Recyclable insulated covers
  • Insulating foams / coatings / paints reducing heat loss
  • Adaptive thermal isolation
  • Any other solutions, which keep the temperature as per mentioned profiles

 

Approaches not of interest

The following approaches are not of interest:

  • Technologies which cannot meet or outperform the current thermal conductivity co-efficient.
  • Designs with no case studies / experience
