Panasonic Corp. develops and manufactures home or industry electric appliances that involve the use of water. One complication in such existing products is that calcium in water adheres as scale to the inner surface of piping or an appliance over time, leading to a compromise in the cosmetic appearance and performance of the appliance.
Currently, the scale is prevented by the use of a conventional calcium ion removal technology, such as ion exchange membranes. Such membrane technologies require recovery, replacement, and other maintenance processes, however, the ease or comfort of use of such products are compromised.
As like the client, a lot of companies and research institutions around the world have been engaged in research and development for a scale inhibition to resolve the common challenge. In order to deploy such an on-going effort to their product development, the client has issued this open request.
We widely welcome proposals not only for innovative technologies, but also for existing technologies employing a long-life filtration membrane, leading to a reduced maintenance frequency.
